Anna Marie Detig, 81, died Oct. 24, 2007.
She was born on Jan. 27, 1926 to Elmer Bassler and Marie Fest Bassler in their home in Pittsburgh. She remained a resident of the South Hills throughout most of her life, living in Bethel Park, Mt. Oliver, Baldwin Borough and Brentwood.
Mrs. Detig attended Saint Anne's Elementary, graduating from Bethel Park High school in 1944. She co-managed a construction company for 25 years.
She then worked for PPG Industries, Inc. from 1978 until her retirement in 1993.
She was active in Saint Albert the Great Parish from 1966 until 2004, where she was a 20 plus-year member, serving in the church Choral Group and Liturgical and Clown Ministries. She was a seamstress and a frequent dancer at the American Legion in White Oak and the Elks club in West Mifflin.
Her death was preceded by her brothers Raymond (1941)and Edward (1957), her father, Elmer (1987) and her mother, Marie (1997). She is survived by her brother, Elmer (Bea) Bassler, and children Raymond (Lucy) Detig, Christine (Malcolm) Nooning, Diane Detig, Lorraine Cerrone, William (Sandra) Detig and Mary (George) Furman. She was grandmother of Lisa, Justin, James, Russell, Martin, Joseph, Matthew, Jacob, Jessica, Lindsay and Abigail. If he was at all forgetful I'm sure having the same name was a good thing. His first wife was Eleanor Bell Courtney and they had Ralph, Sam and Kenneth. After their divorce he married Nellie Smyers and I think she already had two daughters from her Smyers marriage. I know nothing about her or her kiddles. Ralph was born May 6, 1906 (my Dad). Name in 1920 Census is Robert, and Ralph in the 1910 Census. The 1910 Census is more defined.

Believed to have died in childhood. Listed in 1910 Census but not 1920 or 1930 Census.
Adopted out, last name changed to Etter. last known address was in Canton, OH. Information from daughter of Ralph Holmes Grace, Barbara.

Norbert College in De Pere, WI. In the picture which is in the file under "scrapbook" for Basil--the 3 people are Margaret C, Basil, and a little girl (which is me)-- taken about 1944--surroundings look like it was taken at their home in De Pere, WI.
