The family story is that her father was adopted by the Wylam family but didn't find out about it until later in life after he was married and had children. He found out that his real surname was Taylor and changed the family name back to Taylor from Wylam between 1910 and 1916.
Census records do not match with the above family story. Data entered for Thomas Taylor and Mary Segalini family is from the 1900 Census in Houtzdale, PA and 1910 Census in Houtzdale, PA
The Census records do not tell why the children, at least with Margaret S., has the birth certificate as Margaret Wylam, with parents Thomas and Mary Wylam. The baptism record names are the same for Margaret S.
The 1900 Census he is listed as age 1, the 1910 Census lists his age as 13.
John Taylor married an Alice, with the last name possibly Compton, who passed early. Catherine Zacher Lombardi has receipts billed to John Louis Taylor for the funeral of Alice Compton Taylor. He is also listed as a widower. Also from Cathy: It does appear that John Louis Taylor was married, albeit briefly. One of the loan papers lists Him as the widower, and the address is 7221 Hermitage Street. Another loan paper was co-signed by a Jessie (Charles) Anderson. In 1918, the Spanish Flu killed about 650,000 people in the US alone. October, 1918, was the highest death count month. Alice may have died of this flu pandemic.
