Thomas Segaline was raised by the Mulgrave family, and adopted as an adult. He went by the name Thomas Mulgrave. He may have changed his name at the time of adoption from Thomas Edward Segaline to Thomas Patrick Mulgrave, as he went by the name Thomas Patrick Mulgrave.The family information is that he was an infant when his mother died, and his father, Thomas Martin Segaline, moved in with his sister, Mary Segaline Taylor and family with children Helen and John. There was simply no room for an infant. He was placed with Lizzie Taylor, sister of Thomas Taylor, who married William Mulgrave. The Mulgrave family raised Thomas Segaline.
In the 1920 Census he was listed as Thomas Segaline. In the 1930 Census he was listed as Thomas Mulgrave. The family information from Mary Ann Conway Itts is that Thomas Martin Segaline refused the official adoption of his son Thomas, by the Mulgrave's. Regardless, Thomas grew up as Thomas Mulgrave, and was officially adopted by the Mulgrave's when he was an adult.
