The different names for Margaret Hughes are as follows.
All of the Census records state Margaret Taylor. Robert G. Nooning Sr., has in his possession as of 7-8-2007, a photograph that was written on by Malcolm Henry Nooning Jr., Robert Sr's father. On this photo is the name Sarah Hughes, mother of Thomas Taylor and wife of John Taylor. I, Robert G. Nooning Sr., remember a family record that stated her name as Mary Margaret Hughes.

I, Robert G. Nooning Sr., can honestly say that my father, Malcolm Henry Nooning Jr., was a major source of family history information going back to his great grandfather, 2 of his great aunts and who they were married to, some of their children, etc. In my research my father has been found to be almost 100 percent correct with everything he explained to me. If he said her name was Sarah, with the nickname "Ma’am", I have to believe it. The name of Margaret Sarah Hughes has been placed in the record from Census data, and the name provided by Malcolm Henry Nooning Jr.

Many Taylor's came from Liverpool, England. Margaret Taylor birth year abt 1853. Her son, Thomas birth year abt 1869 in England, daughter Mary A. birth year abt 1873 in Pennsylvania. Arrival date has to be between 1869 and 1873 for these dates to match.

In a hand written letter from the niece of Ida May Nooning, Agnes Virginia Nooning Perras, from Troy, NY, to Robert G. Nooning Sr, dated 2-21-1983 and a typed letter from Gertrude Wheeler, also from Troy, NY in 1983.

She states that Ida May Nooning charged her name to Veronica and/or went by Veronica Nooning or Mary Veronica Nooning because she didn’t like Ida May.

Agnes Virginia Nooning Perras was the daughter of Mary Frances Nooning born 7-12-1903 to the parents of George Malcolm Nooning and Mary Frances Unknown. Again, Ida May/Veronica/May Veronica/Mary Veronica Nooning, was the aunt of Agnes Virginia Nooning Perras

Agnes Virginia Nooning Perras 12-22-1919 1-1995
Husband William Joseph Perras 4-21-1911 1-15-1995

She also stated that Veronica married a Willard Pickering. However, a marriage filing in the Rensselaer County Marriage Index, Volume II - Marriage Records Surnames April 1913 - July 1918 has the following record on Pickering: Pickering Willard Patrie Ruth L. 2 124 5618 November 17, 1913. This says Willard pickering married Ruth Patrie. There may be another Willard Pickering.

The 1910 Federal Census has Mary Nooning, head of household family in Troy, NY - Ida Gauley listed as daughter to Mary, and age 25. She (Ida) was also listed as a widow.

Rensselaer County Marriage Index Vol. 2
Nooning Ada B. Wallace Patrick F. 2 191 5954 March 9, 1914

1920 Census, in Troy, NY at age 35 is listed as Mae Gauley, widow, living with Eugene Vallee as head of household, with wife Mary Frances Nooning Vallee and single brother in law William Wallace Nooning.

The 1930 Census, in Troy, NY has her living with her sister, Mary Frances Vallee Smith and daughter Agnes Vallee as May Ganley (Gauley) at age 45. Married at age 19.

I, Robert G. Nooning Sr., have not found a death record in the SS Index for Ida Gauley or Mae Gauley-Ida Pickering or Mae Pickering that matches. She may have remarried an unknown.

6-4-2007-In a letter dated 1983 from Gertrude Wheeler, Troy, NY, there is an obituary on a William Wallace Nooning from 11-6-1948. This obit listed Mrs. Willard Pickering and Gertrude's notation is that this was Mary. This information would coincide with the Agnes Perras information that Ida May Nooning married Willard Pickering at some point. In this same letter, Gertrude mentions that Ida May Nooning turned out to be May Veronica, that she married a Ganley, and later married Pickering. The Pickering marriage had to be after 1930 as this Census has her at age 45, living with Mary Frances Smith, and both widows.
