Edward R. Farrington Sr., 92, of the Friendship House, formerly of Shively, died Monday, January 26, 2004, at Norton Hospital. He was born February 24, 1911. He was a retired employee of the old Yellowstone Distillery and a member of St. Helen Catholic Church for over 50 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served from 1941-1945, during which time he was a Prisoner of War and awarded medals for honorable service while a POW, Military Merit, Freedom from fear and war, the President's Medal and a Purple Heart. He was a member of the 1st Armored 6th Infantry Division, Louisville Area Chapter of the 1st Armored Division, American Legion Dixie Post #220, Third Degree Knights of Columbus Spalding Council for 35 years, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Msgr. Bouchet Assembly, Moose Lodge #5 and Knight Crawlers Square Dancers. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Alleen Farrington . He is survived by his son, Edward R. Farrington Jr.; daughters, Karen Farrington, Sue Ann Drane and Janine Nooning; and five grandchildren. His funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Helen Catholic Church, 4005 Dixie Hwy., with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Southern Home of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Christian Church Homes of Kentucky.".

Cecelia (Kelly) Bursick, 81, formerly of Garfield, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004. Beloved wife of 65 years to John J. Bursick. Daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine (Long) Kelly. Loving mother of Barbara Mozick (Anthony); John T., Joseph (Kathryn) and Thomas (Sherry) Bursick; Cecilia Acres (Richard); Mary Caprino (Anthony); Dora D'Amico (Joseph); Maureen Mullen (John), and the late Catherine Istenes (Robert). Grandmother of 30. Great-grandmother of 35. Great-great-grandmother of two. Sister of Thomas F. Kelly (Theresa) and the late Mary Moffit, Catherine Nooning and Joseph and James Kelly. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at MCCABE BROS., INC., FUNERAL HOME, 5300 Penn Ave., Bloomfield.
